PowerBeats Pro vs. PowerBeats 3:See The Difference

August 11, 2020 by Martha Lyons Leave a Comment

Real wireless workouts: Power Beats Pro

Powerbeats pro

The PowerBeats Pro is an excellent alternative for fitness enthusiasts wishing to encounter the right wireless earbud. The around-ear design is snug and comfortable, though it can cause some problems for people wearing glasses. It also has Apple’s new H1 headphone chip for faster connection and voice-activated, “Hey, Siri.” Unfortunately, unlike the new AirPods, the PowerBeats Pro Charging Case does not have wireless charging.

The PowerBeats 3 has an outstanding battery life and will last pretty much the entire day before charging again. Although the neck cord makes it more challenging to lose your PowerBeats3, it is still a neck cord and can be a little bulky to deal with, restricting your wireless earbuds’ flexibility. The W1 chip is quick and lets you move seamlessly between Apple devices, and you can trigger Siri on the in-line remote with a push of a button.

More in Details

While both the PowerBeats Pro and PowerBeats3 are wireless, the latter uses a neck string to connect to each other’s two earbuds, which may bother others. However, the PowerBeats Pro is wireless without any neck strings, so you have complete freedom.

Plus, the PowerBeats Pro has Play / Pause sensors, so it starts or stops your music automatically by deciding when they are in your ear or not. The Auto On / Off sensor places the earbuds in standby when they are inactive for a specified period.

The PowerBeats Pro also includes the latest and largest Apple headphone chip, the H1, which included in the new AirPods 2. It means even faster connections and smooth switching between Apple devices. With just your voice, you can trigger “Hey, Siri” The PowerBeats3 has only the older W1 chip, so the link and switching are not as fast as the H1. You can also only call up “Hi, Siri” by clicking the RemoteTalk Control button.

The PowerBeats Pro is right, too, when it comes to charging. The carrying case it comes in is likewise how you load your earbuds. You need to drop them into the case, which carries an extra charge duration of 24 hours on its own and plug the case into a Lightning cable.

It’s much more compact than the PowerBeats3, where you plug into the earbuds themselves in the micro USB cable. However, although the PowerBeats3 has a more durable battery life at 12 hours, and the PowerBeats Pro lasts only up to 9 hours, the latter more than makes the charging case make up for it.

Dropping your earbuds into a situation that carries another 24 hours of charging power is much more convenient than plugging your earbuds into a micro USB cable. Furthermore, the 9-hour battery life is nothing to be scoffed considering other true wireless headphones, such as AirPods and Jabra Elite 65 t, usually last on a single charge just for 5 hours.

Overall, we believe that the PowerBeats Pro is a worthy successor to the PowerBeats3, and a great alternative to even AirPods 2 due to the safer and more comfortable fit of the around-ear design (unless you wear glasses). The battery life compared to the competition, is also very good. For workout enthusiasts, this is a real wireless earbud experience.

The Best Choice

Real wireless workouts: Power Beats Pro

The PowerBeats Pro is a game-changer for Fitness enthusiasts in the wireless earbud industry. It has a secure fit that you can customize with silicone ear tips of different sizes, and there is no neck cord. It uses Apple’s H1 chip to connect and switch between devices faster, “Hey, Siri” voice-controlled, and the Auto On / Off and Play / Pause sensors.

The charging case will carry a charge of another 24 hours, and it fits with any Lightning cable. The PowerBeats Pro will last at a single charge for around 9 hours.
