We will dive deeper into each specification in further texts.

WH-1000XM3 VS Bose 700 – Design

The Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 have a beautiful minimalistic sleek design. They come in black and silver colors. The headband is made of stainless steel, accompanied by a cushions for extra comfort.

The earcups are also very soft, fully enclosing the ears, and if you have to adjust them, you can easily do so by sliding them up and down the headband. Most of the functions can be controlled through the touch-sensitive right earcup.

Due to the magnificent design, they feel incredibly light and extremely modernistic, aiming to impress the business class. However, Sony doesn’t fall back in doing this by an inch either.

Sony WH-1000XM3 are even lighter by a few grams and also very comfortable thanks to the soft padding along with the bridge and comfy earcups that fully enclose the ears.

The right earcup is equipped with a USB Type-C port for charging to make it more convenient for users.

These headsets come in black and silver-gray color.

WH-1000XM3 VS Bose 700 – Features

Bose 700 has touch controls on the right earcup that are pretty easy to get used to and use:

  • Swipe up and down to change the volume
  • Tap twice to pause/play music
  • Swipe back/forwards to skip through the tracks.

They come with Alexa built-in, but Siri and Google Assistant can also be used.

Sony WH-1000XM3 comes with two buttons on the left earcup:

  • One for Power and Bluetooth
  • Second for switching the noise cancelation between the three Modes it has: On, Off and Ambient

Playback functions are situated on the right earcup:

  • Swipe right/left to change the tracks
  • Dubble tap to pause and resume
  • Swipe up and down to change the volume

Battery Life

It can be argued that Bose’s battery life isn’t as good as it should be, given the fact that it is just around 20 hours, depending on the level of the volume being used.

On the contrary, WH-1000XM3 has a 30 hours long battery life, which gives them a definitive win in this segment of comparison. Plus they have a Quick Charge function that gives you incredible 5 hours of playback for only 10 minutes of charging!

Noise Cancellation

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 come with greatly sophisticated noise cancellation, blocking all the outside noise regardless of how crowded the place you are is. And to add even more, the noise cancellation is also amazing when taking the phone calls.

What happens is, that even your voice gets isolated so the person you are talking to can clearly hear you without all the noise in the background interrupting!

This is achieved thanks to their eight microphone system. Six microphones play a role in noise cancellation so you can enjoy listening to music, and the other two are obliged to isolate your voice from the external noise during phone calls! Plus, thanks to the Bose App, you can control all the 11 noise cancellation settings and adjust them to your liking.

And just in case someone stopped by to talk to you, you can switch to Conversation Mode in order to fully turn off noise cancellation and have a conversation without bothering to take them off.

On the downside, however miraculous Bose’s 700 noise cancellation is, it still can’t beat the one of WH-1000XM3.

Sony is on top of the game with its noise-canceling technology. WH-1000XM3 come with Ambient Nosi Mode that allows you to hear the announcements on the bus or airport. They also have a Quick Attention Mode that quickly lets in the external noise to allow you to hear what’s happening around you without having to take your headphones off.

However, when it comes to making phone calls, Bose 700 is performing better. With 1000XM3, your voice won’t be as well isolated, as it would be with Bose 700.

The Sound

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 have absolutely well-balanced sound, given into consideration that they don’t have any high-quality streaming codecs. The sound they produce is very detailed and enjoyable, even though, in our most honest opinion it isn’t quite as good as the sound of 1000XM3.

Sony WH-1000XM3 has a truly incredible sound. Even though you may read or hear elsewhere that they aren’t the best choice for audiophiles, that absolutely doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Whatsoever, they are among the best. (If you are interested in the more in-depth explanation about this, you can visit the Sound Guys Review).

1000MX3 sound the best on devices with LDAC codec, but they aren’t any less sounding on other devices either. Also, they sound slightly better on Android devices than on iPhones.

Sony VS Bose – Price

If you are looking to get the best deal for the money, then we would definitely recommend Sony WH-100XM3. They are cheaper plus, given into consideration everything mentioned above, then once again, they are the best deal you can get

Our final choice

Our choice is definitely Sony WH-1000XM3. They have better sound quality, better battery life, and features. Even noise cancellation is better, only the fact that Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 has better voice isolation while having a phone call gives them a small minus. Bose even holds a bigger price, despite the fact that they aren’t as good as 1000XM3 is.

If you are all about the quality, then you should go with 1000XM3. They have longer battery life, better isolation, and lower price.

However, if you decide to go with Bose 700, it wouldn’t be a mistake either. They have truly aesthetic minimalistic design, great sound quality, and very good noise cancellation.
